In this presentation, Chuck Meyer (Chief Technology Officer, Production, Grass Valley) examines the system design scenarios now facing broadcasters and provides insight into critical factors that need to be considered, such as bandwidth per link, channel efficiency and, most importantly, aggregation. IP routers are designed to exploit the advantages of aggregation. Systems that utilise aggregation effectively will maximise the size of multiplexed trunks and optimise bandwidth utilisation, ultimately leading to lower-cost systems.
