Broadcast Solutions expands Streamline OB van footprint in Africa delivering new Streamline S12T series OB truck to Rwanda Broadcasting Agency

Broadcast Solutions GmbH has handed over the first model of a Streamline S12T OB, a new member of the Streamline family of OB vans, to a customer in Africa. Home-base of the new Streamline model is the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA). The Streamline S12T is designed as a truck/box body combination with one extension. Thanks to the perfectly fitting dimensions and thought-out room and workflow concepts, it offers space for up to 14 workplaces and can be operated with up to 12 cameras; a unique combination for OB vans of this size.

Broadcast Solutions established the family of Streamline OB vans years ago, thus turning the previously complex and lengthy development of an OB van into a vehicle in series production. Underpinning this approach, the company continually keeps chassis and components for the assembly of these OB vans in stock. All pre-planned Streamline models are characterised by short delivery times and significant cost advantages, as with this model. The Streamline S12T for RBA was delivered to the customer only three months after order.

The RBA OB truck can work with up to 12 cameras and was delivered with ten cameras from Grass Valley plus two wireless cameras. An essential guideline in the customer’s order was the demand to have an OB van that should be as flexible as possible with fast configuration times for different productions. Thus, the well-thought-out workflow concepts Broadcast Solutions has integrated into the OB van and using the hi human interface control system make configuration and operation significantly easier in daily production routine.

Arthur Asiimwe, Director General at Rwanda Broadcasting Agency, about the new OB truck: “We were looking for an OB truck that is flexible and quick to use and easy to operate. With this Streamline S12T, we have found the perfect production vehicle for our purposes. The fast delivery time and the optimal price-performance ratio of the OB truck were further decisive criteria for contracting Broadcast Solutions with the production and delivery.”

Other components used in the Streamline S12T include a Grass Valley Kula (3 M/E) video mixer and a Ross Ultrix router (105 x 105) with integrated multiviewer. For the audio section, Broadcast Solutions opted for a Lawo mc²56-32 console and a Lawo Core router. A Riedel Artist 64 intercom system is used for communication between the teams.

Within the S12T the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency relies on the hi human interface software, developed by Broadcast Solutions, taking care of overall control in the OB truck. With innovative configuration concepts and drag-drop functionalities, hi is the basis to simplify operation and control of all relevant video and audio technology within the OB truck, including router, audio and video mixer, multiviewer, Tally and signal management.
