London, UK, September 11, 2017 – Camera Corps, a leading supplier of speciality television production systems, announces a major addition to its rental assets with the introduction of its own in-house-designed miniature high frame rate camera for use in live broadcasting. The new Clarity range is designed to deliver real-time live output and high frame rate SDI video replays into slow motion servers.
“Working closely with our clients, we established a need for a miniature high frame rate camera,” says Commercial Manager Barry Parker. “Weighing just 340 grams, the Clarity greatly extends the opportunities available to producers seeking to capture slow motion imagery from outdoor or indoor locations. Broadcasters now have the freedom to capture slow motion from an ultra-compact live camera that can be placed right in the middle of the action. The small dimensions mean the camera head can easily be protected and positioned. The camera is also ideal for fixed locked-off shots or use on a jib, Polecam or lightweight robotic pedestal where movement is required. A UHD version operating at 2x real time is also available.”
The Clarity cameras are far smaller than traditional high speed broadcast cameras yet can capture high quality HD at up to 480 frames per second (8x real time at 50p or 60p frame rate). Finished in black and measuring just 65 x 25 x120 mm, not much larger than a smart phone, the Clarity head is practically invisible to other cameras covering the scene. Image capture is via a 7 megapixel micro four thirds sensor, custom designed to operate at high frame rates. The camera can also be genlocked and has a wide temperature tolerance, from -25 to +50 C, allowing outdoor use from winter sports to the hottest mid-summer events.
Completing the system is a full-functioned remote control panel with paint, focus, iris and zoom control. Optical fibre cabling allows easy setup and long-distance signal transport. Additional features include a positive-lock lens mount plus a global shutter with speeds of 1/60, 1/125, 1/500 and 1/1000 second. Sensitivity is 2000 lux at F11 aperture. Video can be output in 1080p, 1080i and 720 formats at 50 or 59.94 Hz.
The Clarity miniature high frame rate camera will form part of the Camera Corps demonstration on the Vitec Group stand 12.E65 at IBC2017, Amsterdam, September 15th-19th.
