As a direct response to customer requests, we are delighted to announce the immediate availability of a new version of the DNS 8D firmware. This includes three significant upgrades.
Storing and saving noise profiles
The original software stored all of the processing parameters in the current setup as a Preset, but not the invisible noise profiles calculated for the eight channels by the Learn function. Today, these noise profiles can be stored when you save a Preset. They can also be saved in the current setup when you switch off the unit so that, when you switch it on again, you can continue from exactly the same point as before.
Dumping and recalling Presets
The DNS 8D has 100 memories (Presets). A new browser page within the unit now allows you to dump these to your Mac or PC and later recall them, thus making it possible to back up individual projects for use at a later date if desired.
Improved screen and button management
Some users found the brightness of the screens and buttons to be too high in low light conditions, so we have added a low/medium/high brightness function. We have also added the ability to switch off the screen saver. When selected, this dims the screen after three hours, extending its life but still letting users know that the unit is active and functioning correctly.
Managing Director, Gordon Reid, says, “In each case, these updates offer major improvements for the users who requested them, so we’re delighted to have been able to respond to their needs. Owners of existing DNS 8Ds can download the new firmware directly from our website as well as the latest DNS 8D manual which includes update instructions and descriptions of the new features.”
