Rohde & Schwarz Achieves Re-Certification of EU eCall Test Solution by Cetecom Advanced
Rohde & Schwarz has successfully passed the re-certification of its EU eCall test solution, conducted by Cetecom Advanced, an independent test house. This significant achievement reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering standards-compliant, next-generation eCall test solutions, enhancing its position as a leader in the industry.

Compliance with Updated Regulations
With the new EU eCall Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/1180 coming into effect on May 9, 2024, Rohde & Schwarz has promptly updated its R&S CMW-KA094 eCall end-to-end (E2E) conformance test solution to comply with the latest standards, including EN 16454:2023. This ensures manufacturers and suppliers are equipped to meet new requirements, ensuring seamless integration of in-vehicle systems (IVS) for emergency calls.
The re-certification by Cetecom Advanced validates the R&S CMW-KA094 eCall test software, which simulates a public safety answering point (PSAP), confirming that it meets the regulatory requirements for processing eCalls, receiving emergency data, and interacting with in-vehicle systems.
Continued Collaboration on Next-Generation eCall
Rohde & Schwarz and Cetecom Advanced have also reaffirmed their cooperation, focusing on a compliant test solution for next-generation eCall using 4G and 5G network infrastructure. This joint effort is supported by Cetecom Advanced, a designated technical service for eCall testing, with extensive expertise in certification and standardization.
The next-generation eCall test solution is based on the R&S CMX500 communication tester, which has been selected by Cetecom Advanced as their test platform. The CMX500 is capable of VoLTE/VoNR testing and supports the internal IMS server with MSD via SIP. It also boasts advanced IP and application test capabilities, positioning it as a top-tier solution for NG eCall conformance tests.
Enabling Compliance with New Standards
With the joint verification of the R&S CMX-KA098 NG eCall test software in partnership with Cetecom Advanced, customers now have access to a reliable solution that complies with the latest CEN standards for NG eCall. This ensures that the industry is ready to adopt next-generation eCall, which will become mandatory for all vehicle suppliers serving the European market by 2026.
