Rohde & Schwarz has introduced the R&S RT-ZISO isolated probing system, a groundbreaking addition to its oscilloscope portfolio. This system enables precise measurements of fast-switching signals, especially in environments with high common-mode voltages and currents. Alongside this, the R&S RT-ZPMMCX passive probe with MMCX connector complements the isolated probe system for specific measurement tasks.

Previewed at the PCIM Europe International Exhibition and Conference in Nuremberg, Germany, the R&S RT-ZISO promises to set new standards for isolated probe technology, providing unmatched accuracy, sensitivity, dynamic range, and bandwidth for next-generation wide bandgap (WBG) power designs using SiC and GaN materials.
Key features of the R&S RT-ZISO include:
- Differential measurements up to ±3 kV on reference voltages of ±60 kV.
- Rise time of < 450 ps.
- Common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) > 90 dB at 1 GHz.
- Bandwidth options from 100 MHz to 1 GHz (upgradeable).
- Power-over-fiber architecture for galvanic isolation and improved CMRR.
The isolated probe is ideal for a variety of applications, including power converter analysis, double-pulse testing, inverter design, and motor drive analysis. The probe comes with a wide selection of tips, such as micro-miniature coaxial (MMCX) connectors and square pins, making it adaptable to different measurement needs.
Additionally, the R&S RT-ZPMMCX passive probe offers a bandwidth of > 700 MHz with input voltages up to ±60 V DC, perfect for low-side gate measurements. With a capacitive load of less than 4 pF, it ensures optimal signal integrity, maintaining the shape and timing of switching waveforms.
The R&S RT-ZISO isolated probing system and R&S RT-ZPMMCX passive probe are available now. Attendees at the PCIM Europe event, taking place from June 11–13, 2024, can see these innovations firsthand at the Rohde & Schwarz booth 619 in hall 7.
