Imagine walking into a buzzing newsroom where the nation’s pulse beats through the stories being written, recorded, and shared. Now imagine a space where these stories—whether breaking news or cultural moments—flow effortlessly between TV, digital, and social platforms. This is the journey of Media Prima and Octopus Newsroom, a story of tradition meeting innovation and how, together, we´re shaping the future of news production in Malaysia…
The Heart of Malaysia’s Media
Media Prima is more than just a media company—it’s a household name, a companion in living rooms, a voice on the radio, and the platform where Malaysian stories come to life. From the bustling energy of TV3, Malaysia’s leading channel, to the youth-focused TV9, Media Prima channels have been the storytellers for generations.
But even a media giant must evolve. And with the fast-changing media landscape, Media Prima knew it was time to embrace the future. That’s where Octopus Newsroom came in.
A Vision for the Future
In recent years, Media Prima has found itself at a crossroads. It was time to take their newsroom into the digital-first era, a space where automation and integration could streamline workflows and open new possibilities for content creation. Gone were the days of manual systems and disconnected workflows—they were ready to step into a modern, unified newsroom.
The vision was ambitious: to revolutionize their news production, integrating both TV and digital teams and building a bridge between the traditional ways of working and the new world of digital-first journalism. Octopus Newsroom was there to help bring that vision to life.
Building Bridges with Cutting-Edge Collaboration
It wasn’t just about technology; it was about people, too. Media Prima’s teams—used to different ways of working—were now coming together under a shared vision. With ongoing training sessions in Kuala Lumpur starting in March 2024, Octopus has worked side-by-side with Media Prima to ensure that every team member feels confident and supported as they navigate this new chapter.
Today, the results are something to be proud of – their channels have been on air since October, operating with the newly integrated system. It’s a milestone that feels as fresh and exciting as the first time a signal went live. A seamless broadcast, no matter where or when powered by automation and the collaborative efforts of Media Prima’s and Octopus Newsroom.
As Media Prima continues to thrive and innovate, we’re honored to be part of their journey, helping them shape the stories that matter most. Because, in the end, it’s all about the stories—and the bridges we build to tell them.
