Ensuring it can keep pace with a rapidly evolving live sports market, Balkan broadcast facility provider MVP – Most Valuable Production – has upgraded its flagship HD1 outside broadcast truck with a Calrec 36-fader Argo M console with internal DSP. As part of the company’s strategic shift towards IP-ready workflows, the upgrade gives MVP’s 17-camera expandable truck the capacity to handle increasingly complex production demands.

With a reputation for exploring new and innovative technologies, MVP was founded in 2015 and has established itself as Balkan’s go-to live sports specialist. Operating four outside broadcast units, the company is producing live sports content for clients throughout Europe. Ivan Nikolic, MVP’s Owner and Managing Director is responsible for overseeing the company’s strategy and technical development.

We produce a high volume of live sports content every year and Calrec helps us deliver consistent quality while handling more complex productions with the same crew resources,” he says. “The whole industry is moving towards more flexible, distributed, and IP-based workflows, and Argo M fits perfectly into this strategy. The installation of the Argo M into our HD1 truck enables us to create incredibly flexible workflows that can be adapted to a wide range of production requirements.

“With its internal DSP, the 36-fader Argo M is an extremely powerful console in a very compact footprint. It has enabled us to standardise all our audio workflows, increase efficiency, and support a wider range of productions, including remote and distributed setups.”

With system integration support from Calrec’s Croatian distributor Kapetanovic Systems, the upgrade had an immediate impact at a match during one of Europe’s most prestigious football tournaments within days of installation. Nikolic says the console is now part of MVP’s core setup for upcoming sports productions and has given the truck a new lease of life.

“Our long-term audio strategy is focused on scalability, IP readiness, and consistency across all our OB units,” he says. ” This is increasingly important for efficiency, cost control, and future-proofing. Calrec’s equipment makes it easier for us to adapt to these requirements.

“My job is to ensure our broadcast systems meet the highest quality standards and so Calrec’s broadcast-focused design and reliability were key factors in our decision. Argo M gives us the flexibility and audio quality we need for fast-paced live sports, which is why it was the right choice for this unit.”

Nikolic praised the seamless delivery of the project. “Kapetanovic Systems played a key role in the integration ensuring a smooth and efficient process, and the support from Calrec before, during and after installation was excellent, ” he says.

Calrec’s Regional Sales Manager, Mike Reddick says MVP’s Argo M installation meets an evolving need in the market for compact, scalable consoles that can streamline facilities while staying agile enough to adapt to growing requirements.

“Installations like this illustrate how production companies like MVP can think big without compromising valuable truck real estate,” says Reddick. “Although the Argo M occupies the same space as MVP’s previous console, it delivers the flexibility for MVP to adapt its services to meet the evolving needs of its customers. The fact that HD1 went straight into a prestigious production immediately after installation speaks volumes about Argo’s broadcast-ready reliability – no learning curve, no settling-in period, just straight into the action.”
