A portable climate control system is like a portable air conditioner. However, it’s much easier to use and more reliable for people and machinery working in extreme conditions. A portable climate control system allows the user more flexibility and safety when working with sensitive equipment that could be damaged by heat, humidity or freezing.
What is climate control?
Climate control is a more sophisticated form of air conditioning that enables the temperature to be more accurately controlled. It uses sensors and a computer to allow for precise temperature management. A climate control system is typically more straightforward to use than air conditioning. It gives the user the ability to choose their desired temperature instead of having to adjust hot and cool air.
Climate control works by the user setting their desired temperature, and the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems work together to reach or cool down to, that temperature.
The main difference between air conditioning and climate control is that the occupant will need to adjust the hot and cold air from air conditioning and heating to reach their desired temperature. This can be difficult to achieve consistently with storage spaces or in critical conditions. In contrast, climate control will automatically be set at the temperature-programmed by the occupant for their needs.
A portable climate control system works the same way as built-in climate control systems but is designed to be convenient and reliable in remote locations and extreme conditions.
Why are climate control systems important?
Climate control systems are important in protecting sensitive equipment from extreme climates, where excessively high or low temperatures could impact technology. Managing the temperature can prevent potential failure in critical conditions.
Climate control prevents potential damage to sensitive components from dust, heat, moisture, and corrosion. Metal components may expand or contract in response to hot and cold, and humidity can create condensation and mildew that could damage products or mechanical parts.
Adverse weather conditions are another issue addressed by climate control systems. Standard air conditioning may be satisfactory to use day-to-day, but what if there is a snowstorm or a heatwave? A climate control system will perform well in unforeseen circumstances.
It is also critical for human beings. When working in extreme conditions, the body can become weak and susceptible to illness. If it’s too hot, workers may get heat stroke or become dehydrated, and if it’s too cold, the body puts more pressure on the heart to try and stay warm. Unlike most workplace health and safety practices, the temperature can sometimes be overlooked. A climate control system is essential to keep people healthy – mentally and physically.
