Alpha Networks Launches 1.6T Liquid-Cooled Switch Powered by Broadcom Tomahawk 6

Optimized for AI data centers, cloud applications, and next-generation networks with high energy efficiency and advanced cooling.

Alpha Networks Inc. (3380), the leading supplier of network communication solutions, announced today (9/22) the launch of its newly developed 1.6T liquid-cooled switch equipped with the Broadcom Tomahawk 6 chip to deliver up to 102.4 Tbps of switching capacity.

Designed for AI/cloud data center and high-performance computing (HPC) applications, the product not only satisfies the high-speed connectivity requirements of generative AI, large-scale multimedia streaming, and Internet-of-Things, but also achieves a balance between energy efficiency and environmental sustainability through the use of a highly effective liquid-cooling system.

Product Features

Fastest chip in the world

  • The Broadcom Tomahawk 6 chipset set a world record for switching capacity from a single chip with 102.4 Tbps—double the bandwidth of existing Ethernet switches.

  • Throughput is 6x higher than the previous generation of products.

  • Supports collaborative operation of up to 100,000 GPUs, equivalent to processing 25,000 4K-quality movies every second.

High-performance liquid-cooling

  • Each liquid-cooling unit can remove over 1.8 KW of heat, providing a more compact, efficient, and quieter solution than legacy air-cooled systems.

  • Enables a greener computing environment.

Data center optimization

  • Conforms with the EIA/ORv3 standard water-cooled rack design.

  • Equipped with leak detection and automatic shutdown to ensure safety and operational stability.

Flexible architecture

  • 64-port 1.6T OSFP interface supports DAC/ACC high-speed cables and long-distance ZR+ optical modules.

  • Modular DC/DC power supply design enhances supply chain flexibility.

  • Supports BMC remote management and 1588/PTP precision synchronization.

Meeting Next-Generation Data Center Demands

The rapid growth in generative AI and cloud applications is driving data center demand for higher bandwidths, lower latencies, and greater energy efficiency.

Legacy air-cooling solutions have reached performance limits as high-end chips enter the kilowatt range. Larger, heavier cooling fins mean higher costs, increased rack footprints, higher energy consumption, and greater noise from fans—making high-kilowatt products difficult to integrate into data centers.

In response, Alpha Networks’ 1.6T switch adopts a liquid-cooled design that:

  • Delivers more than 1.8 KW of cooling per liquid-cooled board.

  • Offers a smaller footprint and higher efficiency compared to legacy air-cooling.

  • Reduces the burden on data center footprint planning and energy consumption.

  • Uses a fully liquid-cooled design with modular PSU, conforming to next-generation ORv3 800V standards.

  • Equips the entire circulation circuit with leak detection to automatically shut down the liquid-cooling system in case of leaks, providing additional servicing time for technicians.

Reliable Solution for AI Data Centers

To meet the even more demanding cooling challenges of tomorrow, Alpha Networks’ 1.6T liquid-cooled switch will:

  • Help customers deploy higher-performance infrastructure.

  • Effectively reduce energy consumption and noise.

  • Provide the most reliable solution for the deployment of AI data centers and next-generation networks.
