Calrec Redefines Broadcast Workflows at NAB 2026 with its Most Powerful Hardware, Virtual and Hybrid Audio Lineup Yet

Fri 13, 03 2026

As broadcasters search for more efficient and flexible workflows, Calrec demonstrates its portfolio of cutting-edge broadcast audio solutions designed to maximise choice, agility and utilisation of technical and human resources.

Calrec will be located in Central Hall, on Booth C6907.

Choice without compromise

The broadcast industry is going through a rapid evolution that’s signalling a more collaborative and location-independent future for live production. To give broadcasters maximum agency to build and scale workflows to meet the demands of any project, they need more choice across their operational framework. By fully utilising resources, they drive a shift that allows teams to deploy agile technologies and adopt business models that precisely match the scale and needs of every production.

Calrec is uniquely positioned to support broadcasters in their quest to navigate this major technical, business and commercial transition. The company will present its IP Ecosystem Powered by True Control 2.0 integrating the company’s award-winning IP-native Argo consoles including the US debut of the 48-fader Argo M, and Type R modular IP mixing system, networked with an ImPulse IP processing core and ImPulseV virtualised audio mixing engine.

The next big thing

To help broadcasters fully embrace dynamic hybrid workflows, Calrec will make a major announcement that unlocks even more freedom for broadcasters adopting hybrid workflows, offering greater flexibility and choice in how they configure Calrec workflows.

New Argo M: More faders, more flexibility, more controlBuilding on the company’s critical hardware foundation, Calrec’s compact IP-native 48-fader Argo M audio console with integrated DSP will make its US debut.

Featuring up to 356 channels of internal DSP, Argo M delivers all the power, familiarity, and reliability of Calrec’s flagship Argo platform in a streamlined 24, 36 and new 48-fader footprint. Compact yet uncompromising, it maximises desk space with full-sized fader strips and intuitive controls built for the most demanding productions. Plug-and-play ST2110 and cloud connectivity gives immediate high-performance control, so broadcasters can focus on what matters most, creating outstanding content at scale.

The ability to connect Argo M to an ST2110 networked environment and to an existing Calrec ImPulse core alongside other Argo surfaces means broadcasters can quickly create multi-console IP environments. Seamless connectivity to ImPulse, ImPulse1 and ImPulseV means additional external DSP paths can easily be added as production demands change.

NEW software updates & feature preview

Calrec will showcase key software updates and a feature preview at NAB 2026.

·       Argo v1.4.24 provides all the acclaimed functionality of 1.4 plus operator enhancements and is available immediately.

·       Type R v3.2 delivers improved Mix Minus outputs, Assist Upstand meter tiles, Off Air record contribution dialogue, and Syslog support and will be released in Q2, following NAB.

·       Calrec will also be showing a new preview of Argo Offline Assist allowing offline configuration which will be available in Q4.

Virtualisation reimagined

Virtualisation with Calrec means flexibility without compromise. Calrec’s virtualisation strategy gives broadcasters the choice and the freedom to define and scale their own infrastructure requirements across a range of hybrid workflows.

New for NAB 2026: Calrec will preview ImPulseV running on virtualised server hardware. Calrec’s ImPulseV virtualised audio mixing engine creates workflows across multiple platforms whether COTS hardware, public cloud, private cloud, existing processing hardware and distributed resources contribute to an efficient flexible hybrid production environment.

Calrec’s ImPulseV employs the same familiar user interface and can be controlled directly from any Argo or True Control 2.0 enabled console or via the company’s Assist web UI.

Visitors will also see a demonstration of the company’s IP-native 24-fader Argo M console with ImPulseV cloud DSP software which is designed to be deployable across multiple hosting environments, giving broadcasters ultimate choice as to where and how they deploy.

ImPulseV not only empowers broadcasters to flex resources to meet the demands of large broadcast events, its economical OpEx model enables a wider range of second and third tier events, which previously may not have been financially viable.

True Control 2.0: Powering connectionAs broadcasters and content creators continue to redefine their production models adopting hybrid and remote workflows, Calrec’s IP Ecosystem powered by True Control 2.0 allows users to blend on-premise infrastructure with remote operations and virtual cloud resources. By decoupling audio and video from hardware, teams can scale dynamically, orchestrate thousands of audio channels across distributed DSP environments and virtualise entire workflows.

True Control 2.0 is the glue that connects Calrec’s award-winning IP ecosystem together, offering ample flexibility with distribution models most recently seen at the Summer Games. Calrec will demonstrate the benefits of True Control 2.0 in action, linking Calrec consoles on the Booth to a Calrec console in California.

True Control 2.0 delivers full feature-set parameters over EQ, dynamics, routing, direct outputs and delay. Broadcasters can scale production ecosystems quickly, supporting distributed workflows with a deep level of remote control. A single controller can manage up to five other Calrec consoles or processing cores simultaneously, expanding functionality without extra hardware investment.

Argo S: Future-proof IP connectivityCalrec is also bringing its award-winning 48-fader Argo S console to NAB 2026, now powered by a major software update. Designed for the most demanding live broadcast environments, Argo S pairs with an ImPulse DSP core. With enough customisable hands-on real estate to deliver control over every parameter of the audio mix, Argo S gives broadcasters everything they need to adapt without compromising resilience or precision.

The new v1.4 Argo software delivers enhanced routing strip functionality allowing users to see every fader’s routing simultaneously on the touchscreen and switch physical controls to other strip modes such as EQ, Dyn or Pan. New features include customisable Tiles for up-stand meter layouts, streamlined Mix Minus workflow with flexible bus selection and output options, plus DAW control of MIDI and improvements to NMOS Control, status updates, monitoring, and Calrec Connect interfacing.

Argo Q: Maximum power, maximum precision

Calrec will also demonstrate its award-winning 36-fader Argo Q audio mixing console paired with an ImPulse core on a True Control 2.0 network. Argo Q is Calrec’s flagship audio console, designed for premium broadcast operations that demand maximum power and precision.

Type R: Build your perfect systemCalrec will showcase its Type R modular, expandable IP mixing system, controlled by True Control 2.0. It too is designed to encourage customers to take advantage of distributed production and flexible workflows. Type R’s fully 5.1 capable IP core enables broadcasters to benefit from virtual working practices and automated broadcast workflows on a cost-effective SMPTE 2110-compliant IP backbone.

Key features include off air record, enhanced GPIO talkback, monitor selector follow, mix minus bus user labels and a large DSP pack with 32 aux buses.
