WASHINGTON — Dec. 11, 2023 — #GALSNGEAR®, a movement to bring parity to women in technology, media, and entertainment, today announced that founder Amy DeLouise has received the IABM M&E Mentoring Award, which recognizes a person, group, or company that has made an impact and has been an inspiration in the lives of new people in the media and entertainment industry.
In the IABM’s judgment, DeLouise has assisted with knowledge by sharing wisdom and skills, offering brainstorming and a sounding board, helping mentees develop a professional network, and providing a perspective for career/work strategies and options.
DeLouise founded #GALSNGEAR to support, amplify, and train women in the media, tech, and entertainment industries and to help them build the professional networks necessary for career advancement. #GALSNGEAR hosts an emerging leaders training program, in-person networking events, and beta-testing opportunities, and the organization recently launched the Tequity Hub, a one-stop shop for women seeking industry connections and upskilling. The Tequity Hub hosts Tequity Tuesdays, monthly virtual conversations on industry topics, as well as training tools, technical demos, and job postings.
Besides leading #GALSNGEAR, DeLouise owns and manages an independent multimedia production and consulting firm, DeLouise Enterprises LLC. The company helps Fortune 500 companies, international nonprofits, and public sector agencies convey a cohesive story about their mission, vision, and services through video and social media. DeLouise has also worked behind the scenes on Oscar-winning feature films and has garnered more than 40 of the top creative awards in the industry. She has been featured in stories in The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, The Washington Business Journal and More magazine. She was named a Washington Area Woman-Owned Small Business Leader by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council and received the Woman of Vision Leadership Award from Women in Film & Video. DeLouise is a graduate of Yale University.
A large part of DeLouise’s career has been spent mentoring and coaching other media professionals. DeLouise also trains media professionals as a frequent speaker at international industry events such as InfoComm, NAB Show and the Visual Storyteller Conference. She is the author of two books with Routledge Press: “Nonfiction Sound and Story for Film and Video: A Practical Guide for Filmmakers and Digital Content Creators” (2020) and “The Producer’s Playbook: Real People on Camera” (2016), both of which are used around the globe in university courses and by industry professionals.
“One of my passions is helping to educate, connect, and elevate the next generation of people who will shape the M&E industry,” DeLouise said. “It’s an honor to have IABM recognize those efforts.”
The M&E Mentoring Award is part of the 2023 IABM Annual Awards acknowledging excellence and achievement. DeLouise received her award at a dinner on Dec. 7 in London following the BaM Live London event.
