farmerswife not only did it allow us to double the number of invoices we could send out, resulting in an impressive additional turnover of 200,000 euros in the first year alone, but it also completely revolutionised our approach to tracking work.
Filmmore, a renowned and dynamic full-service post-production company specialising in feature films, drama series, and documentaries, has been a loyal user of farmerswife for nearly 15 years! In an exclusive interview with the CEO of Filmmore, Remco Mastwijk, we delved into their journey with our software.
How long have you been using farmerswife and the challenges that made you choose us?
It’s hard to say for sure how long we’ve been using farmerswife, but it was probably around 2009 when we made the switch from FileMaker Pro-based program, not sure if it still exists but it didn’t quite meet our needs.
One major issue we encountered with FileMaker Pro-based was its inefficient plan board, which was nowhere near as good as the one offered by farmerswife. Every time we made a small change to the plan, it would take an incredibly long two minutes for the board to refresh. Furthermore, our previous system lacked the efficient time reporting feature that farmerswife excels at. This meant that our staff had to fill out printed worksheets, and twice a month, I found myself faced with a massive stack of their time records that I had to go through in order to complete the invoicing process.
The transition to farmerswife was a game-changer for us. Not only did it allow us to double the number of invoices we could send out, resulting in an impressive additional turnover of 200,000 euros in the first year alone, but it also completely revolutionised our approach to tracking work. The efficient work tracking capabilities of the system made all the difference.
What truly sets farmerswife apart from other systems we explored is its long-form feature. This feature provides us with a comprehensive overview of our plans spanning several months, enabling us to plan and strategize more effectively. Despite being tempted by other software vendors over the years, none have come close to matching the functionality and satisfaction that farmerswife provides. It continues to be the only system that perfectly aligns with our specific needs, and after all this time, we couldn’t be happier with it.
What is your workflow with farmerswife?
When we have a prospect or client with a specific project, we get things rolling in farmerswife by creating a project and setting up a budget. Once the budget is approved, we hand it over to our production team, who then dive into the planning phase. They make sure that every detail of the project is included in the plan. And whenever there’s an event or update that needs to be reported, they simply make an additional booking. Instead of using the desktop version of farmerswife, our staff finds the webclient to be a perfect fit for us. It keeps everything running smoothly!
We are also considering the possibility of implementing Cirkus to further streamline our operations. Whenever I come across new developments and advancements, I am eager to integrate them into our workflow. However, for now, I don’t feel inclined to take on the task of rebuilding our database. Maybe in the future though!
What are your thoughts on the support team?
We love Mirja, she is amazing! We really appreciate her support.
The support team was very helpful when we came across a database issue. Initially, we thought our database setup was logical, but we soon realized that certain information was not being accurately reported or in a way that made sense. With their guidance, we were able to make changes to the database, transitioning from tracking work per hour or unit to categorizing activities and services. While it was a compromise, this adjustment has made a significant difference. However, every year we face the decision of whether or not to start fresh and rebuild our database for the best functionality.
We will have to come and visit you in Mallorca!
