Limecraft’s Media Intelligence – Enhanced AI for Media Producers – Wins Award at SATIS Expo 2023

Ghent, Belgium, 20th November 2023 – Mediatech innovators Limecraft are very pleased to announce that the company’s forthcoming new AI-based facial, speech and character recognition tool was recognised at last week’s SATIS Expo in Paris with an award in the ‘Future/R&D’ category.

The last 12 months have seen rapid change in our industry. With the pace of innovation and technological development accelerating, Limecraft no longer feels that ‘speech-to-text’ or ‘face recognition’ adequately reflects the scale and ambition of what high-end producers want to achieve with AI technology.

As a result, SATIS saw Limecraft introduce the idea of Media Intelligence – enhanced AI for the media industry. With documentary, news and entertainment creators having to manage and archive ever-increasing amounts of content, searchability has become a key factor. The addition of this new tool will dramatically speed up the process of finding specific content by enabling users to search catalogues and archives according to particular actors, words or characters appearing in a scene, and/or specific words or phrases spoken. Combined, these advanced search criteria help create incredibly precise and powerful searches, reducing the time required to review content and helping producers more easily identify and monetise historical material.

We have now reached an inflection point where AI is becoming truly valuable. The combination of highly accurate automatic speech recognition and capabilities such as face recognition, optical character recognition, and sentiment analysis, enables exciting new capabilities for edit and archive producers. It represents an evolution beyond transcription into understanding, interpreting, analysing, and using images in more valuable ways. “We remain committed to giving every producer, large and small, the ability to really understand their media”, notes Limecraft Co-founder Maarten Verwaest. “We’re doing that by integrating AI into your workspace seamlessly. In turn, you can expect pinpoint accuracy and faster results, resulting in more ways to monetise content”.

“We know that searchability is key, and we want to give our customers access to as many data points as we can”, notes Limecraft’s Head of Product Nico Oorts. “With broadcasters now airing Petabytes of data every month, it’s important that this content is catalogued appropriately so it can be quickly and easily found in future. We have consistently been building up the use of AI services at the core of our MAM platform, and it now makes perfect sense to open up the abilities of AI to recognise faces, words/characters and speech within our platform. We were very pleased demonstrate this new technology at SATIS, and it’s a fundamental part of our product roadmap”
