Migu Video Upgrades to 4K IP Live Broadcast Studio with SEEDER’s Studio Automation System

Fri 10, 01 2025

On November 26, Migu Video Technology Co., Ltd. launched a tender for the sixth phase of its Ultra High Definition (UHD) video production and broadcasting system upgrade. The project selected SEEDER’s Studio Automation System. This system is designed to achieve full automation and intelligence in program production, enhancing the consistency of program quality while improving work efficiency and equipment utilization. It aims to reduce the error rate and work pressure associated with manual coordination, optimizing both cost and efficiency.

About Migu Video

Migu Video is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Migu Culture and Technology Co., Ltd., which itself is a part of China Mobile. Originally known as China Mobile’s Mobile Video Base, Migu Video serves as the sole copyright operation entity in the video field. The company is committed to building a leading domestic and world-class comprehensive video service platform, offering high-quality live event broadcasts, including major sports leagues such as the Chinese Super League (CSL) and the English Premier League (EPL). Migu Video meets diverse user demands through its strong content ecosystem and technical capabilities.

Project Overview

The goal of this project is to build a comprehensive studio automation system for Migu Video. The server-side and studio’s ST2110 audio-video systems will be interconnected via Ethernet and other control protocols to facilitate signal, data, and control information exchange. The system will establish seamless integration with the core equipment in four studios, enabling efficient switching between different program contents and fully automating the production and broadcasting workflow.

The studio automation broadcast system is primarily used to execute streamlined and mechanical equipment operations during program production by sending targeted control commands from the control terminal based on pre-configured linear program templates. It replaces manual operations with automation to handle tasks outlined in pre-arranged program rundowns, achieving automated switching and production. This system is expected to significantly reduce the need for personnel in roles such as camera operation, audio mixing, playback, lighting, and subtitle management. In high-spec productions for medium and large studios, it enables a substantial reduction in production team size, significantly lowers labor costs, and enhances the efficiency of live broadcast production workflows.

Core advantages

Outstanding Program Presentation:Through automated rundown execution, Migu achieves seamless coordination across multiple systems and devices. Spatial design integrates stage machinery, lighting, videowall graphics, and music playback, while overall presentation involves synchronized operation of robotic camers systems, graphics, vision mixers, and matrices. The system utilizes a three-layer graphical structure—CG graphics, VR/AR graphics, and VideoWall graphics—adding a temporal dimension for dynamic four-dimensional visuals. Precise, time-sequenced triggers ensure flawless execution, such as robotic crane movements, lifelike 3D virtual effects, immersive soundscapes, vibrant lighting transitions, and perfectly synchronized audio-visual elements like graphics and subtitles.

Simplified Operations: Integration with the NRCS enables automated content loading and template recognition, which triggers automatic rundown generation. Operators only need to execute simple time-based triggers to complete live or recorded production. Complex multi-user operations are replaced with streamlined automation, while template-based workflows simplify production.

High Security: The studio automation and content management systems support hot-standby redundancy, allowing manual intervention at any time. Automated content loading and previewing ensure the safety of the next rundown entry. Adjustments in the NRCS instantly update the rundowns, reducing human errors and simplifying operations to avoid collaborative mistakes.

Enhanced Efficiency and Utilization: Network-based rundown templates are created within a local area network, significantly improving studio recording efficiency. Program segments require minimal rehearsals, as rundown adjustments automatically align system content such as videos, CG graphics, VR/AR graphics, and VideoWall graphics, and teleprompters. The content management system quickly imports playlists via the network, integrates equipment commands, and generates automated rundowns. Operators can complete productions by simply invoking these rundowns, reducing program transition times to as little as three minutes, maximizing studio utilization, and streamlining collaboration.

Optimized Human Resources:Personnel can focus on creative design, enabling small and medium-sized broadcasters to produce high-quality programs despite limited staff.

Reduced Labor Costs:The introduction of studio automation reduces dependency on manual operations. Intelligent system management streamlines workflows, enhances team efficiency, and effectively lowers labor costs, addressing staff shortages and operational challenges.

Technological Empowerment, Driving Transformation

As a trusted partner of Migu, which places high demands on live broadcast security, SEEDER‘s system connects critical studio equipment via Ethernet to deliver precise command triggers tailored to production needs. It enables frame-accurate control of robotic camera systems, vision mixers, matrices, video servers, audio servers, audio mixers, lighting consoles, CG graphics, VR/AR graphics, and VideoWall graphics for seamless coordination. Particularly in sports program production, SEEDER’s studio automation system ensures efficient synchronization across all stages, providing Migu with high-standard live broadcast support. This significantly enhances production efficiency and program quality, optimizes the viewer experience, and delivers a more professional and seamless live broadcast.
