Part 4 of the insightful Rohde & Schwarz Satellite Industry Day series will take place on May 25, 2023, from 15:00 to 17:10 CEST. This virtual session will feature a panel of industry experts and will focus on the European IRIS2 program and its role in building a secure and resilient satellite communications infrastructure.
As Europe undergoes a digital transformation that impacts businesses, industries, governments, and citizens, there is a growing need for a secure and resilient space-based telecommunications system to meet evolving requirements. To address this, the European Commission has issued a tender for the Infrastructure for Resilience, Interconnection & Security by Satellite (IRIS2) system. IRIS2 is a multi-orbital communications infrastructure dedicated to providing satellite communications services to governments and commercial users.
Part 4 of the Satellite Industry Day series will bring together experts from Technology Vision Consulting, Euroconsult, STE iDirect Europe, GomSpace, the International Telecommunications Union, and Rohde & Schwarz. They will discuss the latest developments and applications in satellite and space technology.
The event will feature:
- Introduction to the IRIS2 program and its significance to Europe’s future secure telecommunications environment by Jean-Benoît Laithier, principal advisor for the satellite communications ecosystem at Euroconsult.
- Examination of the EDF European Protected Waveform (EPW) program, focusing on agile, secure, affordable, and interoperable satellite communications by Koen Willems, VP EU Programs and Government Relations at ST Engineering iDirect.
- Addressing the nano-satellite revolution, including current innovations in orbits, software-defined technologies, AI, and satellite miniaturization, by Lars Krogh Alminde, co-founder of GomSpace.
- Talk on the regulation of non-geostationary (non-GSO) satellite systems by Nelson Malaguti and Timur Kadyrov of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). They will outline regulatory changes made following the last World Radiocommunications Conference in 2019.
- Panel discussion with all the experts and a live Q&A session moderated by Thomas Wrede, Founder and Managing Director of Technology Vision Consulting UG.
