On February 19 2019, Romanian rock band Via de Vie made history during a concert in Bucharest sponsored by Vodafone Romania, when it added an extra band member to its line-up half way through its set in the form of a hologram, showing what can be achieved using the power of a 5G network. The excitement of 5G resides not only in its lower latency than 4G, but in large format, higher definition interactive videos as opposed to streaming videos. 5G offers a thicker data pipeline, permitting HD video in an ultra large format, including life size stage format holographic images. These types of images will not only support live concerts, but also create content that will influence people's purchasing decisions. Holograms are poised to become a huge growth market - not just in the field of entertainment and live events, but also in TV production and TV commercials. In the future, 5G will offer the potential of higher bandwidth, lower latency first and last-mile wireless connections, opening up all sorts of channels for the Media and Entertainment industry.

When the location is on challenging terrain, or if the crowds are overloading the cellular networks, or in adverse weather conditions – or sometimes all three at once – reliable transmission paths are critical to ensuring that high quality video gets back to the station or direct to the viewer.
