Our industry is filled with different standards that are constantly being updated and new ones initiated. We all are often too tied up in our day-to-day activities to keep up with various standards activities, until suddenly we need to be on top of them for an order or an RFP.
IABM is here to help you keep up to date with the latest developments with this on-demand webinar. We will also cover the latest activities from our IABM Endorsed Collaborative Groups – AIMS – Alliance for IP Media Solutions, DPP – Digital Production Partnership, MOS Development Group, Streaming Video Alliance and VSF – Video Services Forum.
This webinar is presented by Stan Moote, IABM CTO and Paul Treleaven, IABM’s Technology Specialist who actively represents IABM on SMPTE and AES Standards Committees and at ABU Technical Committee meetings. He provides meeting reports and drives our Standards Monitoring Group.
Installing and expanding Mediaproxy compliance monitoring for AMC Networks International Central and Northern Europe
Mediaproxy Case Study: AMC Newtworks
AMC Networks International (AMCNI) is the global distribution division of US cable operator and entertainment media group AMC Networks Inc. Its activities are divided across different regional territories, each with a dedicated operating unit handling multiple television channels broadcasting targeted programming, in specific languages, to countries within its region. Each channel is available on a variety of platforms to multiple devices, calling for extensive compliance monitoring to ensure output conforms to different regulatory standards and provides a consistent level of quality for viewers.
AMCNI Central and Northern Europe, which covers 14 nations including Germany, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Slovenia and Ukraine, updated its logging and analysis system four years ago with the installation of a Mediaproxy LogServer monitor and analyzer. It is now in the process of expanding this set-up to accommodate new services.
Mediaproxy Whitepaper: Next Generation Content Monitoring
Today, broadcasters and facility operators have a choice of how to find and monitor content passing through the distribution and playout chains. While traditional detection methods such as time and date searches and predefined metadata are still valid and used widely, newer and more sophisticated techniques such as digital watermarking and fingerprinting, combined with the increasing use of computer-based automation are making inroads into the market and have to be considered viable alternatives.
The challenge is to harness the potential of machine learning and decide what is the best model for specific operations, whether based locally at the user's premises or remotely on cloud- based platforms...
VideoFlow Case Study: NRWision
NRWision, a community TV station serving the state of Nordrhein-Westfalen, used a filebased system for the first nine years of operations, to upload non-live content created in the studio over an internet connection to a playout server in Unitymedia's network operation center (NOC). While NRWision had been part of Unitymedia's channel line-up for quite some time, it was not able to broadcast live over the internet.
This may sound strange given the fact that NRWision has 1 Gb/s connections to the desktop and - as a university - has a high-speed direct access connection to the Internet backbone. However, NRWision realized that high-speed internet connection is not enough to ensure successful live broadcast.

The Media Business – Q1 2020
Like the whole broadcast and media technology market, the audio market is currently going through a transition to IP driven by the need for increased efficiency through automation and virtualization. Moreover, as skillsets change at customer organizations, audio technology suppliers are rolling out solutions designed for multi-platforms supporting next-generation audio formats (i.e. immersive audio). Over the past few years, audio over IP (AoIP) has become the top technology priority for audio technology buyers as evidenced by our latest Buying Trends survey.

Video Over IP E-Learning Course
This course consists of 7 modules, providing a thorough grounding in the principles and standards of Video over IP (Internet Protocol). Starting with the basics of using IP as a replacement for SDI, it goes on to look at RTP (Realtime Transport Protocol) streaming and the fundamentals of IP multicast, and then covers SMPTE ST 2022, SMPTE ST 2110, AES 67, AMWA NMOS, and PTP (IEEE 1588) – the key components of an IP based studio, OB truck or broadcast centre. The standards are dealt with in a way that is both clear and understandable, while at the same time giving the detail needed to be useful in real practical situations.
The course will appeal to anyone with basic knowledge of IP and SDI who wants to gain a good understanding of how IP is transforming the infrastructure of broadcasting and content production.
