Video shouldn’t cost the earth – a a discussion around the specially commissioned report from Blackbird looking at reducing the climate impact from TV and video production
The environment has shot to the top of everyone’s agenda over recent months, and our industry has a part to play in protecting it. In this session, we will look at sustainable production models – what we are doing and what more we can do to achieve more sustainability? And how do you really measure it? – every company it seems has different standards; so what are media companies expecting from tech suppliers? A panel session gets to the heart of the matter.
The topic of regulatory change isn’t exactly ‘sexy’, and it is difficult to discuss without mentioning the dreaded ‘B-word’ (and in case that is too cryptic for non-UK/EU based members, I mean the irritating term that has entered common parlance meaning the ‘British’ exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union.)
Presented by Bassam Alas’ad (General Manager/Chief Content Officer, CMS)
In a recent report, climate change was featured as the most feared crisis impacting humans and wildlife. The Media, as an industry of influence, should be leading by example to have a positive impact on climate change, but this effort needs extensive collaboration.
And from an influential media and business hub like Dubai, can we inspire the UAE region to set this change in motion in all media sectors across the globe?
This session was followed by a panel Discussion chaired by Joerg Pohl (Director, ARRI System Group)
IABM TV interview with Kristan Bullett (Managing Director, Piksel) on Piksel and it’s fit into the new ecosystem
Flowtech tripods causing a stir An interview with Tobias Keuthen Director, Global Product Marketing Management, The Vitec Group This article originally appeared in the IABM Journal, issue 105 which is available to view online here I haven’t seen such excitement in years over what many regard as just a ‘must-have’ piece of everyday equipment. Why has flowtech caused such a stir? We believe flowtech is so popular because it fills a niche for a professional tripod that is lightweight and extremely easy to carry and set up, but is also strong, stiff, and rugged in any type of terrain or environment. We went to great lengths to develop a solution that really supports the way camera operators want to work in the field, with unique features that accelerate their workflows. And the industry accolades are an indication that we’ve succeeded! Since flowtech’s launch last autumn, it’s won many awards – including IABM’s own BAM Award at the 2018 NAB Show. What makes flowtech so different from all the many alternatives on the market? There are many high-quality tripods out there – but flowtech is the first to combine speed of use with exceptional torsional stiffness while being extremely lightweight and...
IABM’s State of the Industry conference has become the traditional curtain-raiser at IBC, with a panel of industry experts discussing the big industry issues of the moment and providing pointers for where broadcast and media is heading next.
John Footen set the scene for the conference with an engaging opening keynote that examined the current state of the industry and where we need to take it in future. How does the rise of OTT and mobile impact content creators and distributors – and what’s the impact on the technology they use? How important is IP and cloud, and where should we be focusing most attention?
George Bevir, IBC365 editor, provides an overview of the IABM International Business Conference in his closing keynote.
