The new generation Enigma Broadband matrix is used to provide flexibility in the routing of antennas to receivers or modems; to allow remote routing of satellite signals to receivers or modems; and to help optimise the use of receiving capacity.
The Enigma is a distributive (full fan-out) Matrix. The Enigma Matrix is housed in a 6U 19″ rack enclosure and has a module capacity of 32 inputs x 32 outputs and can be part populated to any size. It’s new capacitive touchscreen provides ease of use and additional durability. Now in its 4th generation, the Enigma broadband Matrix (50-2450 MHz) has proved to have genuinely high performance with excellent flatness or frequency response, excellent isolation, and linearity – a truly leading edge L-band Router. The Enigma L-band Switch matrix can also be incorporated into an overall automatic redundancy Network Management System to enhance the resilience of the overall earth station equipment.

The Harrier is a distributive (full fan-out) Matrix with a module capacity of 128 inputs x 128 outputs with features to suit specific RF needs for each satellite feed. The matrix can be expanded from 8x8 up to 128x128 in blocks of 8. A variety of impedances and connector types are available.

ETL's wide range of RF components is designed and manufactured at the ETL factory. Covering DC to 40GHz, these are at the heart of many of our 19" Rack Systems. A key feature of many of ETL components is the ability to pass or block a 10 MHz signal or DC voltage through the products, which can be used to power interconnecting components or pass a stable frequency reference to a LNB or BUC within the system.

StingRay RF over Fibre

ETL's StingRay RF over Fibre (RoF) inter facility links (IFL) convert high quality RF to optical signals over single mode fibre from, for example, a satellite antenna to reception equipment room, up to 10 km away, with options for distances up to 100's of kilometres. ETL'S Stingray RF over Fibre solution offers fibre links from 10km up to 500km in distance whilst drastically reducing signal loss.
CWDM modules (coarse wavelength division multiplexing) provide up to 50km transmission compact fibre links, with eight wavelengths on a single fibre cable. DWDM modules (dense wavelength division multiplexing) provide up to 500km transmission fibre links and beyond using optical amplification (EDFA), with up to forty wavelengths on a single fibre cable. ETL can also offer a solution for ultra-compact requirements or for smaller applications such as a single antenna. Our range is split in to 100 series and 200 series RF to optical alternatives.
ETL's standard 100 series and 200 series RF over Fibre modules provide AGC (Automatic Gain Control) with automatic link optimisation for FAST SET-UP or wide dynamic range links with FIXED GAIN FOR INPUT POWERS UP TO +6 dBm.

Extended L-band (500-2450MHz) Hawk Matrix is ideally suited for RF signal routing at LEO and MEO gateways, as well as small HTS ground stations and deployable VSAT terminals. The 1U Hawk Matrix has capacity for two 8x8 matrix cards – which can be combining (fan-in) or distributive (fan-out) – for uplink and downlink applications. It can be fitted with any combination of cards depending on application, but is ideally suited for smaller gateways with multiple modems and one or two antennas. Single 8x16 & 16x8 configurations are also available.
The Hawk Matrix delivers flexible module configurations - providing routing solutions with dual 8x8 distribution modules, dual 8x8 combining modules or a combination of distributive and combining modules. TICO-XS is a disruptive, innovative, visually lossless, light-weight and line-based compression technology, specifically designed to be used instead of uncompressed video in many applications. It is currently under standardization as JPEG XS.
TICO-XS is a smart upgrade path to manage higher resolutions (4K, 8K, …) and frame rates while assuring visual quality, keeping power and bandwidth at a reasonable budget and significantly reducing the complexity and cost of a system, a chip or an infrastructure.

From 3G-SDI to IP in 4K
The mapping of the TICO-XS mezzanine compression to carry UHDTV 4K 60P over a single 3G-SDI cable has been specified in the SMPTE RDD35. intoPIX provides the needed building blocks to create a 4K over 3G-SDI solutions. Have a look at the intoPIX TICO-XS IP-cores and peripheral IP to map the compression over SDI.
4K with TICO compression over SMPTE2022-6
As SMPTE ST2022-6, defines the transport of HD-SDI or 3G-SDI over IP, using TICO-XS, it is easy to leverage an existing SMPTE 2022-6 system to carry up to three UHDTV 4K 60P streams over a single 10 GbE port using the SMPTE 2022-6 standard.

SMPTE ST2110-22 specifies the transport of compressed video over IP (including JPEG-XS), enabling you to transport any video formats over IP with full flexibility and all the benefits of TICO-XS compression.

The MCX8000 multi-carrier satellite gateway is a high density, high availability, fully redundant slotted-based modular system designed for Direct-To-Home (DTH) broadcasting, primary distribution to head ends and OTT delivery of video and audio content. Thanks to its slotted based architecture, the MCX8000 system provides a 3 in 1 solution designed to reduce down-time and simplify operational support costs with two hot-swappable modem modules, hot-swappable power supply units and an integrated 1+1 redundancy switch. All hot-swappable modules on the MCX8000 can be added or removed without any special tools or affecting the operation of the other modules on the device.

This is a revolutionary multicast ABR ecosystem that features technology from EKT, EasyBroadcast, Quadrille and ST Engineering iDirect. Through SKYflow, our consortium has defined satellite’s role in OTT delivery and will enable service providers and telcos to deliver content to any device in any location and will satisfy the many use cases that require satellite delivery of OTT services. Congested networks and geographical reach of terrestrial systems have often been a stumbling block for OTT providers and telcos. As they try to attract new subscribers in more remote regions of the world, they must be able to extend their reach beyond the realms of terrestrial networks. The SKYflow ecosystem enables them to solve both challenges due to its capability to reach anywhere in the world, to transport high bitrates to the edge, its multicasting performance and smart pre-positioning of content at the edge.
