The Central Power Hub provides up to eight or sixteen power outputs in one place. The power distribution units feature a single power supply with an optional secondary power supply to deliver full power redundancy. The Central Power Hub (CPH) supports 5VDC or 12VDC devices in a 1U chassis for convenient rack mounting. It provides power to grow your installation on demand.

The power output ports are lockable, preventing accidental disconnects. Each output is limited to 30 Watts at 12V.

Hot-swappable power modules convert the AC supply to DC voltage. Where redundancy is required, the Power Hub will equally balance a normal load between them. If one module stops operating, the Hub automatically transfers the full load to the remaining module.

Power integrity, safety, and management are at the heart of the Central Power Hub system. At startup, the CPH automatically checks the validity of the power modules. It then enables each power output in sequence so they are do not overload the modules by starting simultaneously. As the system provides steady power to your installation, protections are in place to ensure against excess demand by anyone connected device.

Guntermann & Drunck GmbH (G&D), leading manufacturer of KVM systems for broadcast applications, presents its newest KVM product – the RemoteAccess-CPU. The device lets operators seamlessly integrate virtual machines into KVM installations to create hybrid infrastructures. Cloud computing and virtualisation are becoming increasingly important in broadcasting. The physical hardware available on site can be optimally supplemented by virtual machines and computers, which can be remotely accessed via network protocols.

 

Creating hybrid infrastructures using G&D’s RemoteAccess-CPUThe new modules establish a connection between matrix systems and computers or virtual machines, which can be remotely accessed via network protocols (RDP, VNC, and SSH). This way, hybrid systems with real and virtual computer infrastructure can be optimally implemented. The RemoteAccess-CPU supports video resolutions up to 2560 × 1600 @ 60 Hz (or 3840 × 2160 @ 30 Hz) as well as USB HID and embedded audio. After appropriate configuration, users can access any number of virtual sources and computers accessible via network protocols directly via KVM matrix system – uniformly and exactly as producers would access computers under their desk. Via G&D's KVM system, multiple operators can use the same RemoteAccess-CPU to simultaneously connect to and operate the same virtual machine.

The bridge between cloud computing and KVM With the RemoteAccess-CPU, users get a maximum comfortable solution with a high level of user friendliness. Producers can simply select the desired source from a standardised select menu (target list) on the on-screen display – regardless of whether the computer is available in the server room, via network protocol or in the cloud. G&D’s KVM matrix controls the logic and takes over user administration. All connection data is forwarded encrypted.

Thanks to its integrated thin client functionality, the RemoteAccess-CPU offers a platform with integrated thin client functionality, the solution is highly integrative when it comes to establishing connections. A KVM matrix system of the ControlCenter-Compact series consists of at least one central module, one console module and one computer module. The central module of the ControlCenter-Compact series is the central component of the KVM matrix system. Both console and computer modules are connected to the matrix.  With the ControlCenter-Compact users are able to access multiple computers over multiple user consoles simultaneously.  The KVM matrix system enables a console module to be connected to a computer module. The video image of the computer connected to the computer module is displayed on the console monitor. Use the keyboard and mouse of the console to operate the connected computers. The ControlCenter-Compact is available in CAT, fiber and mixed versions. This ensures that you can always use the right KVM matrix system for your application. The ControlCenter-Compact is available in eight expansion stages between 8 and 176 dynamic ports and is fully compatible with the end components for computer and console connections. These also include the DP1.2 vision systems which enable the latency-free signal transmission of 4K video at a full 60 Hz refresh rate through the matrix.

The ControlCenter-Digital is a KVM matrix switch, which helps users operate multiple computers via multiple consoles. With its modular setup, the  ControlCenter-Digital is highly flexible and ready to adapt to any surrounding conditions. The matrix switch enables the remote access of large, distributed IT installations in control rooms and is ready for any future IT requirements.Depending on the chosen variant, the available 288, 160 or 80 dynamic ports can be connected either as computer or as user port. Which type of module is connected is automatically detected by the ControlCenter-Digital. The modular design consists of Controller- and Switchcard, I/O CAT- & I/O Fibre cards, I/O-Card-Multi, I/OCard-Trunk, fan boards and the power supplies. All they are modular and can be replaced. The system can be adapted or extended even during operation. -    The input/output cards (I/O cards) establish a connection between the ControlCenter-Digital and its computer modules and user modules. Each card provides 16 ports, which automatically detect the type of module connected to the matrix switch. The cards run independently from each other – even in mixed mode.-    The ControlCenter-Digital is supplied with power from three redundant power packs. Each of the three power packs is hot-swappable and can be replaced during operation.-    The CCD switch card provides the matrix’s central switching logic. Like all other modular parts of the matrix, the switch card is hot-swappable and can be easily replaced.-    The controller card contains the central processor unit to administrate, monitor and control the system.

Transmission takes place compressed, thus videos are transmitted completely lossless and latency-free. The systems essentially use dedicated cabling. KVM extenders allow users to operate their computers over distances up to 10,000 m whilst maintaining real-time performance. The systems consist of a transmitter and a receiver module.

Depending on the application, systems with uncompressed or compressed data transmission are available. The transmission takes place via CAT cables or optical fibres. Resolutions up to 4K @ 60 Hz and 8K @ 60 Hz for best video quality and perfect hand-eye coordination are supported. Depending on the product variant and the expansion stage the following video signals are supported: DP1.2, DP1.1, DVI single-link, DVI dual-link, HDMI and VGA.

The immediate working environment remains free from heat and noise emissions since all computers are placed in a central, air-conditioned equipment room. Here, technicians are able to administrate and maintain the equipment without interrupting the work of the users.  A local console at the transmitter module placed in the server room makes it easy for the IT staff to maintain the system.

Rohde & Schwarz launches its new Monitoring-as-a-Service (MaaS) solution R&S PRISMON.cloud in Europe

 

 

At IBC 2019, Rohde & Schwarz rolls out its cloud-based OTT monitoring solution PRISMON.cloud in Europe, making it now available in the US, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, the UK and Italy. New features first presented at this year’s show in Amsterdam corroborate Rohde & Schwarz´s aspiration in offering the ideal monitoring tool for broadcasters, content and streaming platform providers. R&S PRISMON.cloud can be deployed quickly and without dedicated hardware. A flexible and scalable pricing model allows users to reduce investment costs (CAPEX), therefore, provides a tailored monitoring solution also for event driven usage peaks.

 

R&S PRISMON.cloud was designed to enable OTT providers to permanently understand the current Quality-of-Service (QoS) but also to quickly and easily adapt their monitoring infrastructure, for example when peak loads during the transmission of large events require extended service.

 

A live multiview function, automated analysis of A/V data and error assignment in real time placed in an intuitive analysis dashboard make it possible to permanently measure QoS parameters, store it in a cloud environment and visualize it in a timeline format.

 

Thanks to the easy-to-use setup wizard, it only takes minutes to add new virtual IoT sensors around the globe and connect them to the dashboard. The cloud solution has been extended with an API interface to integrate current data into network management systems and now provides configurable incident notifications.
