V__matrix is the first of its kind. Free from the restrictions of legacy hardware platforms, it offers a completely virtualized real-time routing and processing infrastructure. Instead of connecting single purpose modular products in elaborate production chains, V__matrix employs data center principles of flexibility, fabric computing and COTS economics and makes these available to any live production broadcast environment. Whether an OB truck, a TV studio or a broadcast operation center, V__matrix creates a fully virtualized facility infrastructure. The V__matrix ecosystem is based on generic high capacity FPGA-based processing blades upon which Virtual Modules (VM) are loaded to create the functionality required. The V__matrix ecosystem can be divided into two parts: physical and virtual. The physical consists of the C100 processing blade and associated hardware which provides the compute and processing capacity of the platform; the more compute power you have the more functions you can run. Since V__matrix is a fully IP-based platform, the C100 processing blade can be placed anywhere there is an IP network. It can be decentralized and spread over one or more facilities or centralized in a core facility or OB truck. A hybrid approach is also possible where some core equipment is kept on-site while a pool of processing power is kept in a remote data center. This decentralized approach allows the technical operation center to be situated in a purpose-built data center outside of town where space, power and cooling is inexpensive, while talent and studios can be in another area.

The virtual world is centered around the software which defines the functionality of the platform. The software packages are called Virtual Modules (VM) and in the V__matrix they allow the function-agnostic core processing hardware to build complex workflows by simply running the appropriate VM. Combining VMs allows the creation of complete production chains fulfilling all broadcast requirements in a fully virtualized environment. As all functions of the V__matrix ecosystem are software-defined it is the ultimate future-proof platform. Changing the functionality of your broadcast plant is as easy as changing the software modules loaded onto the processing blades. Transitions

Available transitions include:

• Cut: When you press the cut button, ATEM instantly changes from your current program source to the preview source. Cuts can be performed by directly selecting sources or by pressing the cut button to switch to the next source.


• Mix: The mix, or dissolve, gradually transitions from one source to the next by creating a smooth blend. You can set custom timings to manually blend the transition.


• Dip: Just like mix transitions, a dip transition is a gradual blend that includes either a solid color, graphic, or another clip between the two video sources. Dips to black or white between sources are the most popular, or you can use logos or sponsor graphics.


• Wipe: Built-in wipe patterns include circles, diamonds, squares, and more. Shapes and patterns can be inverted or softened and can even have customized colored borders.


• DVE: With the powerful built-in digital video effects processor, or DVE, you can push, spin, squeeze, or swoosh your live video from one camera to the next with incredible built-in transitions. DVE transitions can be flip-flopped and reversed, giving you even more transition options.

Upstream Keyer

Layer live video over other video sources or graphics with the upstream keyer. You can use the luma key, linear key, pattern key, or shoot against a green screen and use chroma key to instantly composite the video over virtual sets.

• Luma key: Luma keys work best with high-contrast images, like white elements on a black background, so you can use the contrast to cut the black background and replace it with live video or graphics.


• Linear key: Get clean, high-quality results with linear keying by using two separate sources for the fill and the key to create one video image. The fill signal contains the video to be stacked over the background, while the key signal contains a gray scale mask to cut out, or mask, the area to be filled.


• Chroma key: Used every day for TV weather forecasts, chroma keys are a powerful way of combining live images in real time. The presenter typically stands in front of a green or blue background and the chroma keyer will remove only that color and combine it with another image, such as a video or graphic.


• Pattern key: Combine live images with any of the built-in wipe patterns to combine live images or graphics with geometric shapes. You get full control over softness, symmetry, size, and position to create unique picture-in-picture effects that can be transitioned to as easily as any live source.

Downstream Keyers

The ATEM Mini switcher includes one downstream keyer, so you can add high-quality graphics like logos, bugs, and titles from the built-in media player over the live stream program output. Downstream keyers are the last layers of keying, so they overlay all video switched to the main program output.

Audio Mixer

The built-in audio mixer lets you control both camera and external audio with precision level and balance adjustments on all six available audio inputs and two channels. The mixer features selectable on/off and audio-follow-video per channel, plus it has separate gain control per channel, level and peak metering, and new Fairlight audio enhancements such as compressor, gate, limiter, six bands of parametric EQ, and master gain control.

Monitor Output

The HDMI monitor output allows you to see your sources, graphics, preview, and program output on a single screen.

Media Player

Eliminate external character generators by storing up to 20 broadcast-quality RGBA graphic files in the media pool. The one media player appears as input sources to your switcher. Creative M/E functionality The MVS-3000 is a two mix effect (M/E) switcher with four keyers on each bus. A variety of background transitions are available to suit any programme requirements and these include ; Mix, Wipe, Non-additive mix, super mix and FM clip. Separate from the main fader, each keyer includes its own auto-transition controls, which allow users to insert or remove keys individually with independent wipes and dissolves. For further flexibility, each keyer also offers chromakeying and colour vector keying, eliminating restrictions of selectable key types. By providing a key priority selection it is possible to give any keyer a higher or lower priority giving operators complete freedom in key selection and which key sits in front of the other in the image plane. Multi-program modeEach M/E bus in the MVS system can be configured to operate in multi program mode. This facility provides four independent program outputs on each M/E. Each separate program O/P can then be configured with any combination of M/E keyers. In addition to the expanded program O/Ps, clean and key as well as M/E PVW signals are still produced. 2 resizers per M/E bank and 2.5D DMEA powerful resizer function is provided that gives simple 2.5D DMEeffects for four keyers in the MVS-3000. With adjustable parameters such as size, position, and aspect, as well as mosaic and defocus effects, this functionality is very useful for optimizing the on-screen composition. All these effects can be created without the use of an optional DME, bringing great advantages for both simple operation and minimized system cost.Colour correction for each input and AUX outputIn order to correct for any colour errors in the incoming signals each input has a primary RGB colour corrector. In addition each aux bus output also has an identical colour corrector circuit. This is useful for correcting the colour balance on in-vision monitors. Enhanced frame memory systemThe MVS-3000 provides an internal high-capacity frame store with the ability to handle both individual images (stills) and animation sequences (clips) with embedded audio support . The frame memory system supports eight-channel playback from on-board RAM storage, and images can be imported via USB connection or a real time back up using an external video store. Individual frame memory images or animation sequences can be instantly viewed and recalled via the touch-screen menu operation.Two channel multi-viewer systemThe MVS-3000 provides multi-viewer outputs directly from the main processor chassis. This cuts down on the need for expensive external multi-viewers. Each multi-viewer output can be set in either 10- or 4-way split operation, and signals are delegated to each separate pane accordingly. Macros can be edited either directly from the control panel or with the touch-screen menu display. Once programmed, macros can be executed in several ways: by attaching to the majority of buttons on the control panel surface, recall/run from the Flexi-Pad module, or by trigger on a timeline to execute automatically in a sequence.Networking functionsThe MVS-3000 switcher can be operated with a single Ethernet-based network. This integrated LAN enables easier connection to devices.Powerful device controlThe MVS-3000 switcher has integrated device control and thus does not require the use of an additional unit, simplifying system installation. Various types of transition such as Mix, Wipe, DME Wipe, and PresetColor Mix can be applied in a background transition according to the motion of the clip. A transition can be operated both backwards and forwards with the fader lever.Built-in format converterOne convenient feature of MVS switchers is that a format conversion capability can be incorporated by adding an extra format converter board (MKS-6550). This option provides up-conversion and down-conversion between HD (1080i and 720p) and SD (480i and 576i), and cross-conversion between 1080i and 720p at both inputs and outputs. With these capabilities, there is no need for external format conversion. A variety of signal formats can be handled within the switcher system, which minimizes overall system cost. The format convertor can also work in frame delay mode which provides synchronisation and up to 8 frames delay for up to eight input signals. This is useful for remote non-locked sources or for applications involving virtual studios where a compensatory delay is required.

RouteMaster Lite brings familiar video routing capabilities to Newtek’s NDI® video. Based on our proven RouteMaster system, it gives operators a range of familiar control interfaces for controlling video switching.

Switching is suitable for all live, on-air applications, making RouteMaster Lite ideal for fast manual intervention.

No video streams are passed through the router system, instead traffic is redirected at the network level.  This means only minimal bandwidth and processor requirements are needed, regardless of the number of video streams and resolution. There’s also no additional video delay through the system. Additionally, RouteMaster Lite does not become a central point of failure: If the router system fails for any reason, video continues to flow from sources to destinations uninterrupted.

RouteMaster Lite is ideal for OB and production environments, supporting up to 20 sources and 20 destinations. For larger systems with more complex requirements, the same NDI switching technology is available in the full-featured RouteMaster system.

The built-in GUI is ideal for preset and take switching, showing resizeable video previews and audio metering  of the current video and the chosen source.

External Control

While control from the built-in GUI is fast and easy, it’s not ideal for all situations. Therefore RouteMaster lite supports external control from:

• Web Panels served by the integrated web server


• Familiar hardware panels like Blackmagic Design Smart Control


• Or, third-party software which uses the Blackmagic VideoHub protocol

You can use all these control methods simultaneously, with router status immediately visible to all users.
