greenMachine HDR Evie+
The greenMachine HDR Evie+ (Enhanced Video Image Engine), 1 RU half 19” rackmount, is a real-time segmented frame-by-frame broadcast-quality High Dynamic Range (HDR) to Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) converter, with frame sync supporting formats up to 4K UHD (3840x2160). It is the world’s first system that uses the advanced algorithm for sectional dynamic tone mapping, which automatically analyzes different sections of an image in HDR stream and applies optimal corrections on a frame by frame basis in real-time. This unique capability is unlike any other solution today. It is the perfect real-time production tool for sports or any live broadcast event needing high-quality real-time HDR to SDR conversions. HDR EVIE+ fits best in the single native HDR workflow reducing the cost of equipment and manual operations.
The sectional dynamic tone mapping technique is applied to several spatial areas (sectors) in the image. In this type of tone mapping technique, the algorithm adjusts the signal by using several dynamic curves, one per image segment/sector. The algorithm then combines the result with global dynamic curves based on the entire image. While the dynamic curves of the different sectors are perfectly adapted to the respective image content of their segments, the global curve is perfectly adapted to the content of the entire image. Depending on the image content within these sectors, the algorithm reacts dynamically, which allows lights and shadows to be treated independently. Therefore, dark areas can be brightened, and the bright areas can be darkened without getting a flat gradation of the image. “
HDR EVIE+ provides a 1x 4K/UHD processing channel supporting down-conversion from HDR transfer characteristics to SDR through appropriate sectional dynamic tone mapping. It also supports the Wide Color Gamut (WCG) needs of broadcasters and professional AV live events requirements. HDR Evie+ package also includes HDR Static configuration for Static HDR SDR conversions, which performs static tone mapping to realize UP/Down/Cross conversions between HDR and SDR, suited best for the studios or the environments where the light conditions do not change dynamically.

SDI-GPI Link
The SKAARHOJ SDI-GPI Link box will accept 16 digital inputs from your video infrastructure and convert them into Blackmagic Camera Control Tally signals. This will for instance enable any video switcher with tally contact closure outputs to send essential tally information to your supported Blackmagic cameras such as URSA Mini (+Pro) or Studio Camera series.
Features how does it work DB25 Connector Configuration Example of possibilities in the web interface
From the factory the box is configured to control camera IDs 1-8. When input 1-8 is closed to GND, the red tally flag for camera 1-8 respectively will be set on the SDI output from the box. Likewise input 9-16 (on the same DB25 connector) will result in green tally (preview) being set on the SDI output.
If you want tally control of camera IDs other than 1-8 or if you want just red tally for camera 1-16 for instance, you simply configure the inputs in the web interface (see picture).
The SDI input should be connected to your source for the camera return feed. This would typically be a program output and possibly enriched with CCU data via either an ATEM switcher, the SKAARHOJ RCP, ATEM CCU console or the Blackmagic Arduino Shield. The SDI Tally box passes through all CCU information and only overrides Tally information.
Camera Support
The Blackmagic 3G-SDI Arduino Shield supports the following formats: 720p50, 720p59.94, 720p60, 1080i50, 1080i59.94, 1080i60, 1080p23.98, 1080p24, 1080p25, 1080p29.97, 1080p30, 1080p50, 1080p59.94 and 1080p60, but the camera doesn´t have to be running the same video format as the program input, so you can use cameras in Ultra HD while the camera protocol is sent over HD signal to the camera.

The two switches on the tally light enables the operator to turn on/off the main LED and to dim the operator LED. The Tally Box System handles up to 8 tally lights, connecting either directly via the box, or by daisy chain running from tally light to tally light.
Use the Tally Box system to take full control of your live video production. It's a small and simple yet very powerful tool for optimizing the flow of a production. Great for consumer and prosumer cameras with no integrated tally solution.

ATEM-TCP Link
SKAARHOJ ATEM-TCP Link gives you TCP access to almost any ATEM switcher feature. Indispensable for systems integrators.
Blackmagic Design ATEM switcher has no TCP interface for easy integration with AV-systems, so SKAARHOJ has created this tool, the ATEM-TCP Link, which provides just that: A simple TCP interface to almost any feature in the switcher. It will report state changes of the switcher and accept and forward commands to the switcher. Exactly what you need for AV projects with various AV systems like Crestron, Extron and so forth. In this video you are instructed in how to get started with ATEM-TCP Link. It’s easy! Connect to the device via TCP, then change the desired command on the ATEM switcher and the ATEM-TCP Link will output in the terminal how the command looks that you can use to send the same command to the switcher. All of this and more is demonstrated in the video.

ETH-SDI Link
Receives “UDP Camera Control” information over Ethernet and forwards it on the SDI out connector. Used to merge network data from multiple RCPs onto a single SDI wire.
Multiple Controllers single returnMultiple Controllers, Single Return, Any Switcher. Firmware: ETH2SDI
In this setup multiple SKAARHOJ panels connect with a SKAARHOJ ETH-SDI Link over ethernet which in turn multiplexes this into the 3G-SDI output. If you have the ATEM Talkback Converter 4K or the ATEM Studio Converter this is a great add-on for your RCP/RCP Mini setup.
On the 3G-SDI input of the ETH-SDI Link any 3G-SDI input can be supplied and may even contain ancillary data for color and tally on its own which will be passed through unless incoming ethernet data takes momentary priority. For example, if a Newtek Tricaster supplies a PGM out with tally data to the 3G SDI-in, the tally data will be passed through, but may be overridden if tally data is passed to the ETH-GPI Link over Ethernet from an RCP
Camera Support
The Blackmagic 3G-SDI Arduino Shield supports the following formats: 720p50, 720p59.94, 720p60, 1080i50, 1080i59.94, 1080i60, 1080p23.98, 1080p24, 1080p25, 1080p29.97, 1080p30, 1080p50, 1080p59.94 and 1080p60, but the camera doesn´t have to be running the same video format as the program input, so you can use cameras in Ultra HD while the camera protocol is sent over HD signal to the camera
Single Controller multiple returnsSingle Controller, Multiple Returns, Any Switcher. Firmware: ETH2SDI
In this setup a single SKAARHOJ panel connects with multiple SKAARHOJ ETH-SDI Links over ethernet which in turn multiplexes this into the individual 3G-SDI outputs on each ETH-SDI Link unit. Tally needs to originate from the single SKAARHOJ panel. Either by having a SKAARHOJ panel with GPI input, by using our Device Cores if the video switcher is supported or by having a ETH-GPI Link to interface with GPI and relay information to the shading panel.
Alternative Firmwares for ETH-SDI Link
The SKAARHOJ ETH-SDI Link mainly functions as a device that receives Blackmagic Camera Control data over UDP and embeds it on SDI (“ETH2SDI” Firmware). However, a number of other firmwares are possible.
- “ATEM2SDI” firmware: Embeds color data on SDI in a situation where a network connection to an ATEM switcher is feasible while an SDI connection is not, for instance if there are thousands of kilometers between the ATEM and the camera and a VPN can be used to channel the network through. In such a scenario, the ETH-SDI Link would establish a network connection to the ATEM and use it to extract the data otherwise embedded on SDI out of the switcher and embed it “locally”. Requires low latency network.

ETH-GPI Link
Setting up an I/O device have never been this flexible. Connect and control anything from your tally lamps, trigger ATEM switcher routines, control a HyperDeck, change Scopes on a SmartScope Duo and route inputs/outputs on a VideoHub. Defining parameters – single or multiple - for inputs/outputs is extremely fast, thanks to the drop-down menu structure in UniSketch OS. Connect and control up to 8 devices at the same time!
Broadcast I/O easy control or integration with existing systemsBreakout BoardDB25 Connector Configuration
The GPIO controller let you control anything from your tally lamps, a foot switch over ethernet or integration with existing systems such as CCUs, video routing and other video switchers or video infrastructure units. There are almost endless possibilities.
The general-purpose I/O controllers offer 8/16 inputs and 8/16 outputs, all electrically separated with quality relays and optocouplers. GPO is implemented with relays shorting to GND. GPI implemented with optical isolators shorted to GND.
Please notice: SKAARHOJ Controllers with GPI inputs accept open collector and relay outputs (pulled to GND). The default HD15 tally connector on the TriCaster TC1 does not provide a direct working signal to the ETH-GPI Link. Converting the 5V potential to GND is needed.
The DB25 connector configuration is similar to the Blackmagic Design GPI & Tally Interface. If you fancy a breakout board for the DB25 connector with Phoenix connectors then have a look at the Breakout Board.
Device Settings
The ETH-GPI Link runs UniSketch OS which allows you to configure the device for multiple hardware devices such as the ATEM Switcher, HyperDeck, SmartScopes, VideoHubs, AJA KUMO Routers, vMix and more - see the entire list. You can even configure the unit to control multiple hardware devices at the same time! The microprocessor (SKAARDUINO Due) inside the ETH-GPI Link allows connections to a maximum number of 8 devices.

UniSketch OS Config Page configure GPI & GPO
A number of default configurations exists for the ETH-GPI Link utilizing various Device Cores. Use any of these if they suit your application or use them as inspiration to build your configuration. As we develop more Device Cores additional default configurations will be added to the ETH-GPI Link.
By entering the UniSketch OS config page for a specific default configuration this is the overview you are presented with. By pressing on either of the In/Out pins the menu will jump to that particular input/output setting. Here you can define actions for almost any of the ATEM parameters, control HyperDeck, SmartScope and VideoHub and more hardware devices - see the overview on Device Cores.
To learn the specific behaviour for GPI and GPO for each parameter we refer to the specific Device Core manuals.
By selecting a action, for instance a ATEM parameter to control, a number of options will appear such as selecting 1ME or 2ME, particular sources and default, Hold Down, Toggle or Cycle behaviour.

SKAARHOJ ETH-GPI Link is the perfect companion for your KUMO router if you wish to set routes and read states with wires! We will show you how its done, how flexible the configuration is - you can even connect to multiple KUMO routers from the same GPI device
Various Use Cases for ETH-GPI Link:
NewTek TriCaster + Blackmagic ATEM get tally from TriCaster in sync with ATEM
How to get tally from a NewTek TriCaster switcher onto a ATEM switcher? The scenario is:
- Video switching done on TriCaster
- ATEM Switcher utilized to control cameras (Studio Camera, URSA Mini and URSA Broadcast)
- ATEM Tally needs to follow TriCaster.
The ETH-GPI Link can help to resolve this, but first please check if the SDI-GPI Link is more suitable for you.
ATEM Tally follow TriCaster Tally - GPI
In this setup the ETH-GPI Link will connect to the ATEM Switcher and set Preview/Program accordingly to the signals it receives on the GPI In.
Use the default config "ATEM Connectivity".
ATEM Tally follow TriCaster Tally - GPIATEM Tally follow TriCaster Tally - IP
In this setup the ETH-GPI Link will connect to the ATEM Switcher + the TriCaster and via Virtual Hardware Components on the ETH-GPI Link translate Program/Preview states to the ATEM so the two switchers are in sync.
Use the default config "ATEM Tally follow TriCaster Tally".
ATEM Tally follow TriCaster Tally - IPJoystick Override RCP touchdown via hold groups
By using the "Hold Group" feature found in Device Cores such as Blackmagic ATEM + VideoHub and AJA KUMO Routers, RCP Touchdown function can be used. The Hold Groups feature will fall back to a previous source for a group of triggers using a queue system and finally to the first previous value before any trigger in the group was activated.
Example of using "Hold Group" for AUX routing on BMD ATEM.Example of using "Hold Group" for routing on BMD VideoHubSending GPI over Ethernet and much more!
With the TCP Server + Raw Panel device cores you can network SKAARHOJ controllers in unparallelled ways - not just two controllers but whole groups of them if you please. This video will first demonstrate how you can easily transport a GPI input trigger on an ETH-GPI Link box over network to a relay on another ETH-GPI Link far away with a latency of just 10 ms. And it’s duplex! Then the video moves on to demonstrate how a Tally Box system from SKAARHOJ can quickly be reconfigured to connect to such a ETH-GPI Link box while it’s still also serving tally from an ATEM Switcher. All this is even just scratching the surface of the possibilities.
See details for linking two ETH-GPI Link together here.
Routing Control for Panasonic AW-RP50 & AW-RP120Panasonic AW-RP50 Remote Camera ControllerPanasonic AW-RP120 Remote Camera Controller
If you would like to get routing control from the Panasonic AW-RP50 or the AW-RP120 Remote Camera Controller the ETH-GPI Link is the perfect match.
The AW-RP50 and AW-RP120 outputs Tally in a binary format but the ETH-GPI Link can accommodate this with the "In1-4 Binary" GPI In option from the UniSketch OS System.
Please have a look at the section "Triggering Actions from Binary Inputs" in the Installation and Operation Manual to learn more about this feature.
Update January 2019
We now have a Device Core for the AW-RP120/AW-RP150 which can perform routing control without the need of a GPI cable. Check out the manual for the Device Core and the default config: Panasonic AW-RP1xx on the ETH-GPI Link.
