Aperi H.264 Encoder & Decoder Apps

Encoding and multiplexing for distribution and re-distribution

The Aperi H.264 App offers a unidirectional H.264 encoder/decoder supporting up to 2 channels of SD-SDI, HD-SDI, and 3G-SDI SMPTE compliant video signals. Each channel operates completely independent of the other, with support for video sources running in different formats and at different frame rates. The encoder automatically detects any valid video input on each channel and packetizes each H.264 compressed video signal into an elementary stream multiplexed with MPEG-1 Audio Layer II audio compression and ancillary data elementary streams to create an MPEG-2 compliant transport stream. This transport stream is encapsulated in a SMPTE 2022-2 compliant IP flow and aggregated into 10GbE interfaces on the microserver edge connector. The decoder receives an IP flow for processing, which removes the SMPTE 2022 encapsulation and converts the signal into a transport stream (TS). The stream is separated into video, audio, and ancillary elementary streams which are synchronized via a traffic clock that is closely matched to the encoder. The elementary video data is then decoded, producing an uncompressed video signal. The management interface is accessible via an open RESTful API in addition to an intuitive graphical user interface via integrated web server to configure and monitor the app directly through the API.
